Getting Ready

It hardly seems real that it's already time to start actively preparing for my study abroad trip. This is something that I've been contemplating for the better part of a year now, spending countless hours lost in daydreams about Prague, slaving away to make sure my bank account won't cringe when it comes time for me to actually leave. I've got the mental planning down--I know all the places I want to see, the things I want to learn, the food I want to try, the kind of people I hope to encounter. And yet, now that we're just shy of three months before we leave, it's finally starting to sink in how much I have yet to accomplish before departure day.

I have the essentials down. I've got my passport. I have my luggage (although after seeing the type of carry-ons I'll need after today's meeting, I should probably rethink said luggage for something at least half the size). I have a rough idea of what I want to pack: lots of leggings and sweaters, anything comfy and lightweight. Definitely my Docs. My camera for sure--I certainly don't want to make the mistake of trekking through Europe without my trusty Canon a second time.

And that's where I come to a screeching halt.

I'm fairly certain I want to head to Dublin for my free weekend. But I haven't planned flights, excursions, hostels--anything that goes along with it.  I definitely need to dabble in some German and Czech, at least enough to ask for directions or order food. I have no idea what the weather will be like where I'm going, and what kind of clothes I should expect, or any sights or excursions I should plan on my time outside of class. I need to start making lists. Lists on lists on lists.
